Interested in Enrolling in Northwest Indiana Online School?

Welcome to Northwest Indiana’s Online School! While Duneland School Corporation (DSC) believes most students succeed best with in-person learning, we understand that some students thrive in alternative settings like online learning. Northwest Indiana Online School (NWIOS) offers families a flexible option to stay connected with our schools while choosing the learning environment that suits their needs.

NWIOS is open to Indiana students in grades K-12. DSC partners with Edmentum to deliver both instruction and curriculum, providing a high-quality online learning experience. Edmentum’s EdOptions Academy offers over 500 core, AP®, CTE, and NCAA®-approved courses, taught by Indiana-licensed educators who specialize in virtual instruction. This flexible virtual learning model, students decide how, and when school takes place, allowing them to learn anytime, anywhere. EdOptions Academy and Northwest Indiana Online School are fully accredited by Cognia®

Families considering the NWIOS should keep a few key details in mind before enrolling:

  • Commitment: Students in grades K-11 commit to one semester, while seniors (12th grade) are asked to commit to the full school year, ensuring continuity and academic success.

  • In-Person Testing: While instruction is online, students may need to attend in-person testing sessions for required local and state assessments.

  • Handbook & Guidelines: To maintain the quality of our program, students must follow the virtual school handbook, including attendance and coursework deadlines. Non-compliance may lead to removal from the program.

  • Graduation: NWIOS students will graduate with a special ceremony just for them, separate from Chesterton High School,  giving them a unique celebration of their accomplishments.
