Indiana Code 20-30-5-7 requires Indiana high schools to administer the naturalization examination, provided by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), to each student enrolled in a U.S. Government course where credit is awarded for General, Core 40, Core 40 with Academic Honors, or Core 40 with Technical Honors designation. 

Results from the Naturalization Exam are to be posted to the school website on an annual basis.  

Duneland School Corporation launched Trojan Virtual Academy in the 2021–2022 school year. In 2024–2025, the school was renamed Northwest Indiana Online School. The following summarizes the school's performance from its launch through the current 2024–2025 school year.
